Sunrise on the Canal
Roslyn Retreat, built in 2009 for the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia. A remarkable building and a fine work of craft by Alexandria and Richmond based Bartzen+Ball Architects.
The Art Nouveau style of the James River Railway Bridge speaks of a time when railroads the #1 form of transportation. Not merely a utilitarian rail trestle getting you from point A to point B but a statement of permanence and grandeur. The now CSX double track concrete bridge was built jointly by the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad and Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad in 1919.
