The Lions Bridge in Newport News, Virginia was built in the 1930s. It is a concrete arch bridge that spans the James River and connects the Mariners' Museum and Park to the north bank of the river. The bridge is named for the four stone lions that stand guard on either side of the bridge. The lions were carved by Edward Berge, a Norwegian-American sculptor who also created the lions that stand guard in front of the New York Public Library.
