Chrysler Museum
Named as an architectural landmark by the American Institute of Architects. The Chrysler Museum building, surrounded by a park-like setting including the Hague, a Y-shaped inlet off the Elizabeth River near downtown Norfolk, Virginia.
The Chrysler Museum of Art was founded in 1933 as the Norfolk Museum of Arts and Sciences. In 1971, the museum was renamed after automotive heir Walter P. Chrysler Jr. donated his extensive collection of art to the museum.
The museum's collection includes over 33,000 objects, including paintings, sculptures, decorative arts, and glass. The museum's strengths include its collection of American art, its collection of glass, and its collection of modern and contemporary art.
