Old Point Comfort Light

Old Point Comfort Light is a lighthouse located on the grounds of Fort Monroe in the Virginia portion of the Chesapeake Bay. It is the second oldest light in the bay and the oldest still in use. The house on the left is someones residence, not many can say they have a lighthouse in the side yard.

Located on uninhabited Smith Island on Virginia's Eastern Shore. Cape Charles Light is accessible only by boat but is visible just at the northern edge of the mouth of the bay. Site and tower owned by the U.S. Coast Guard

Shoreline of the Past

Old tree stumps and roots are revealed at low tide along the shores of the Chesapeake Bay at sunset. Traces of the old shoreline before erosion and rising water levels. Taken just inches above the sand, the bay water isn't as cold as I thought it would be this time of year.
